Ingredients
Scale
3 large apples, cored and cut into sticks about 1/4 inch thick
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch (or arrowroot for a gluten-free option)
1–2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon neutral oil or a light spray
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Rinse and pat dry the apple sticks. In a large bowl, toss them with lemon juice to coat evenly.
In a separate bowl, whisk together cornstarch, cinnamon, sugar, salt, and the optional vanilla if using.
Spritz or toss the apple sticks with a light coat of oil. Then add them to the dry mix and toss until each fry is lightly dusted and evenly coated.
Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 2–3 minutes. Arrange the apple fries in a single layer, leaving a bit of space between sticks for air to move. Cook in batches if you need to.
Air fry for 7–9 minutes, shaking gently halfway through, until the edges are golden and the centers are tender. The fries should be crisp on the outside and still juicy inside.
Remove to a warm plate and, if desired, dust with a touch more cinnamon-sugar. Serve warm with caramel, vanilla yogurt dip, or almond butter for dunking.
