- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
- Salt to taste

Instructions
- Prepare the Onion: Peel and cut the sweet onion into quarters, leaving the root end intact.
- Create the Batter: In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. Whisk in buttermilk until smooth.
- Heat the Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Coat the Onion: Dunk the onion into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
- Fry the Onion: Fry the battered onion for 6 to 10 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally.
- Prepare the Buttermilk Ranch Dip: Mix buttermilk, mayonnaise, sour cream, dill, garlic powder, and fresh herbs if using. Season with salt and pepper.
