Description

Ingredients

  • Shortcrust Pastry
  • Ground Beef
  • Onions
  • Carrots
  • Mushrooms
  • Beef Stock
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Egg Wash

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pastry: Roll out shortcrust pastry to about 5mm thick.
  2. Prepare the Filling: Sauté onions, then add carrots and mushrooms, followed by ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add Flavours: Stir in beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, letting it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Assemble the Pie: Preheat oven to 200°C, layer half of the pastry in a pie dish, add meat mixture, and cover with remaining pastry.
  5. Brush and Bake: Brush with egg wash and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Cool slightly, slice, and serve warm with sides.

Notes

Experiment with different fillings and serve with traditional sides like mushy peas or mash.
