Caprese Skewers offer a fresh colorful bite of mozzarella basil and tomatoes with balsamic glaze a simple crowdpleasing appetizer for any gathering
Ingredients
Scale
20–24 cherry tomatoes or grape tomatoes
8 oz fresh mozzarella pearls (bocconcini)
Fresh basil leaves
2–3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Balsamic glaze or reduction
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Toothpicks or small skewers
Optional: a pinch of chili flakes
Instructions
Prep everything: pat mozzarella pearls dry, rinse tomatoes, and gently dry basil leaves.
Assemble the skewers: start with a tomato, add a folded basil leaf, then a mozzarella pearl. Repeat to the end, finishing with a tomato cap. Tear large leaves to fit if needed.
Season as you go: lay the assembled skewers on a platter, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and pepper. The oil helps carry the basil aroma and keeps the mozzarella creamy.
Finish with glaze: drizzle a thin line of balsamic glaze over the skewers just before serving; offer extra glaze on the side for dipping if you like.
Chill or serve: these are best enjoyed fresh but can sit up to 30 minutes in the fridge before guests arrive. If you prep ahead, wait to drizzle the glaze until right before serving to preserve shine.
