- 1 medium Butternut Squash
- 2 large Caramelized Onions
- 1 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
- ½ cup + 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter, chilled and diced
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- ½ tsp Nutmeg
- ½ tsp Salt
- ÂĽ tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Peel, seed, and dice the butternut squash, toss with olive oil and salt, and roast for 25-30 minutes.
- In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and caramelize the onions for 15-20 minutes.
- Combine flour and salt in a bowl, cut in the chilled butter, and add cold water until dough forms. Refrigerate.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, nutmeg, pepper, and salt. Stir in roasted squash and caramelized onions.
- Roll out the chilled dough, fit it into a tart pan, and trim the edges.
- Pour the filling into the crust and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.
- Cool slightly before slicing and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the tart and ensure you chill the dough for a flaky crust.
