Description

Delightful cinnamon rolls shaped like Christmas trees, perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Warm 1 cup of milk to about 110°F, then sprinkle the yeast over it and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 ½ cups of all-purpose flour, ½ cup granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Once the yeast is activated, add the melted butter and egg to the milk mixture. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Spread softened butter all over the surface, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly. Roll tightly into a log starting from the long edge and seal the edges.
  8. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Cut a small ‘V’ at the peak of each roll to form the “tree” shape.
  9. Arrange the rolls on a lined baking sheet, cover, and let sit for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Mix powdered sugar with a splash of milk to create the glaze and drizzle it over the rolls before serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, try whole wheat flour or reduce sugar in the recipe.
