Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • Fillings (chocolate chips, fruit preserves, Nutella)
  • Toppings (powdered sugar, cinnamon, chopped nuts)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk and combine with yeast, letting it sit until foamy.
  2. Combine the Dry Ingredients: Whisk flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Whisk eggs and add to the milk mixture with melted butter.
  4. Form the Dough: Mix wet and dry ingredients, knead until smooth.
  5. First Rise: Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Roll and Fold: Roll out dough, brush with butter, fold like a letter and repeat twice.
  7. Second Rise: Wrap dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Prepare Muffin Tin: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  9. Shape the Cruffins: Roll out a portion of dough, spread filling, cut into strips, shape into spirals and place in muffin cups.
  10. Final Rise: Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  11. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Cool and Serve: Allow to cool, dust with powdered sugar or cinnamon if desired.
