- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup unsulphured molasses
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Optional toppings: powdered sugar, icing, chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well. Stir in the molasses until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
