Description
Delightful homemade Samoas cookies featuring a perfect balance of sweetness and texture, allowing you to enjoy a healthier alternative to store-bought versions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 1/2 cups shredded coconut (toasted)
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- a pinch of sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, onion powder, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, beat together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until creamy. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until fully combined.
- Take a tablespoon of cookie dough and roll it into a ball. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and flatten slightly. Make an indentation in the center for caramel.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool completely on a wire rack.
- Toast the shredded coconut in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
- Mix the cooled toasted coconut with the caramel sauce.
- Spread the coconut-caramel mixture into the indentation of each cookie.
- Melt the dark chocolate chips until smooth.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cookies.
- Let the chocolate harden, placing them in the fridge for about 15 minutes for quicker setup.
Notes
Ensure not to overmix the dough for the best texture. Store in an airtight container for a week.
