Description
A delightful twist on the classic grilled cheese sandwich, combining savory cheese with luscious blueberries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices of sourdough or whole-grain bread
- 2 slices of sharp cheddar cheese (or Brie/goat cheese)
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for grilling)
- Honey or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
- Fresh thyme (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and wash the blueberries thoroughly.
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread. Lay one slice butter-side down and layer cheese followed by blueberries. Sprinkle thyme if using, then place the second slice butter-side up.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat; place the sandwich in and grill for 4-5 minutes until golden and cheese starts to melt.
- Gently flip the sandwich and grill the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet and let sit for a minute, then cut in half and serve warm, optionally drenching with honey or maple syrup.
Notes
Avoid overcrowding the skillet for even cooking and use high-quality ingredients for the best flavor.
