  • Total Time: 65 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Non-Vegetarian

Description

These delightful Turkish dumplings are filled with spiced meat and served with a creamy yogurt sauce and spiced oil, redefining the dumpling experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup ground meat (lamb, beef, or chicken)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center, then add the egg and water. Mix until the dough begins to come together. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth, then wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  2. In a pan over medium heat, sauté the chopped onions until translucent. Add ground meat, salt, and black pepper, cooking until the meat is browned. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. On a floured surface, roll the rested dough thinly using a rolling pin. Cut the dough into 2-inch squares.
  4. Place a teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of each square. Fold the edges together, pinching them to seal completely.
  5. Boil a large pot of salted water. Carefully drop in the dumplings and cook for about 7 to 10 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon.
  6. In a bowl, mix yogurt with minced garlic, adding salt to taste. Set aside.
  7. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in red pepper flakes and paprika. Let it bubble gently, then remove from heat.
  8. Arrange cooked Manti on a serving platter, generously spoon the garlicky yogurt over them, then drizzle with the spiced oil.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute meat with finely chopped mushrooms or lentils. Ensure the dumplings are well sealed to avoid breaking during cooking.
