- 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 cup Evaporated Milk
- 3 large Whole Eggs
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
- a pinch of Salt
Instructions
- Prepare the Caramel: Place granulated sugar into a medium saucepan over low heat and stir continuously until it melts and turns rich amber. Pour quickly into mini flan molds, swirling to coat the bottom.
- Mix the Flan Base: In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth.
- Pour Mixture into Molds: Pour the flan mixture over the caramelized sugar in each mold, filling three-quarters full.
- Bake in a Water Bath: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place molds in a large baking dish and fill with hot water until halfway up the sides.
- Baking: Bake for about 40 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Once baked, cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours. When serving, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.
Notes
For a healthier option, consider using low-fat condensed milk or coconut milk substitutes. You can also use vegan alternatives for the eggs.
