Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1 cup Evaporated Milk
  • 3 large Whole Eggs
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • a pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Caramel: Place granulated sugar into a medium saucepan over low heat and stir continuously until it melts and turns rich amber. Pour quickly into mini flan molds, swirling to coat the bottom.
  2. Mix the Flan Base: In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour Mixture into Molds: Pour the flan mixture over the caramelized sugar in each mold, filling three-quarters full.
  4. Bake in a Water Bath: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place molds in a large baking dish and fill with hot water until halfway up the sides.
  5. Baking: Bake for about 40 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve: Once baked, cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours. When serving, run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using low-fat condensed milk or coconut milk substitutes. You can also use vegan alternatives for the eggs.
