Delicious red velvet cinnamon rolls with a sweet cream cheese frosting, perfect for enhancing your morning coffee experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast
  • 3/4 cup Warm Milk
  • 1/4 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Red Food Coloring
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 4 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Add melted butter, egg, red food coloring, and the dry mixture to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms, then knead for 5-7 minutes until elastic and smooth.
  4. Let it Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Create the Filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl to form a spreadable paste.
  6. Roll Out the Dough: Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a 12×18 inch rectangle.
  7. Spread the Filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the rolled-out dough.
  8. Shape the Rolls: Roll the dough tightly into a log, slice into 12 pieces, and arrange on a greased baking pan.
  9. Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Prepare the Frosting: Mix softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and a splash of milk until smooth.
  12. Frost and Serve: Let rolls cool slightly before drizzling with frosting. Serve warm.

Notes

For a healthier option, you can use whole wheat flour and Greek yogurt instead of cream cheese.
